UAE.S 2055-1:2015 is the UAE's national mandatory halal food standard, administered by the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (which absorbed ESMA). It is similar to GSO 2055-1 but with UAE-specific elements. Halal certification under this standard is mandatory for halal food imports and is verified at port of entry. UAE has a strong audit and surveillance regime for halal-labelled products.
