GSO 2055-1 is the GCC Halal Food standard published by GSO (Standardization Organization for the Gulf Cooperation Council). It defines halal requirements adopted by the Gulf states — Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Qatar — and is referenced by national regulators such as SFDA (Saudi Arabia), ESMA (UAE) and others. It covers requirements for raw materials, slaughter, processing, packaging and labelling for halal food placed on the GCC market.
