NORSOK M-001 specifies general principles, engineering and material requirements for selection of materials and corrosion protection for all parts of offshore installations and onshore plants. It is widely referenced internationally beyond Norway in offshore oil & gas, addressing piping, pressure vessels, valves, structural elements, and exposure to seawater, CO2/H2S, hydrogen, low temperatures and other process conditions. M-001 is part of the NORSOK M-series (M-501 for surface preparation/coating, M-630 for materials data sheets, etc.).
